About the Owner

Nicolle Skalski is a 1990 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Journalism School graduate who spent her first three years out of college working for a Washington, D.C.-based public relations firm. In 1994, following her lifelong dream to study Spanish abroad, she traveled to Guanajuato, Mexico to study for six months. Those six months turned into 10 years. Nicolle established herself in Mexico with her husband and two sons as a translator and study abroad director. After experiencing Spanish immersion in Guanajuato firsthand, Nicolle believes that through educational abroad programs, people not only learn a language, but learn the culture and customs of the country they visit. They acquire the language by living it. She then launched her own Spanish language and cultural immersion program, El Quijote, in 1999, and has just recently (2008) relocated to Minneapolis where she continues to run her successful business.
